A review is an evaluation of a publication, such as a movie, video game, musical composition, or book or a piece of hardware like a car, appliance, or computer. In addition to a critical statement, the review's author may assign the work a rating (for instance, one to five stars) to indicate its relative merit. More loosely, an author may review current events or items in the news.
In terms of scientific literature, reviews is a category of scientific paper, which provides a synthesis of research on a topic at that moment in time. A compilation of these reviews forms the core content of a 'tertiary' scientific journal, with examples including Annual Reviews, the Nature Reviews series of journals and Trends.
Wii: Wii Fit Weighs In! Wed, 21 May 2008 00:00:00 -0000 Alright, let's just get this out of the way: Wii Fit isn't going to give you the muscles of Schwarzenegger or give you the subtle grace of Baryshnikov. In short, if you go in spaghetti-armed and uncoordinated, you'll probably come out that way. Much like Brain Age and other games of its ilk, Wii Fit isn't a magic bullet that'll cure what ails you. But what it can do is get you up and off your couch, which, if you're anything like me, is a good thing all around. Oh, and it's a heck of lot of fun to boot.
PS3: Sweet, sweet Nectar: Haze hits the PS3! Wed, 21 May 2008 00:00:00 -0000 During the eighties, former First Lady Nancy Reagan pleaded with youngsters to "just say no" to drugs. Twenty years later, Haze flies in the face of Mrs. Reagan's pleas to stay clean with drug-addled gameplay that delivers some genuine thrills. But you needn't grow concerned because this game is far from addictive.
Wii: Deca Sports Tue, 13 May 2008 00:00:00 -0000 Despite the fact that it's limited in terms of graphics and depth, Wii Sports still stands as the quintessential Wii title: it's fun, accessible and addictive. Quite a few titles have tried to mimic its formula with varying degrees of success, but none have managed to recreate the magic of the original. Deca Sports comes close thanks to an intriguing mix of off-beat events but it won't make you forget about Wii Sports anytime soon.
Xbox 360: Wits and Wagers Mon, 12 May 2008 00:00:00 -0000 For a trivia game to be fun it has to have three elements - a unique premise that players want to revisit, the ability to keep all participants actively involved from start to finish, and most importantly, great questions. A game might be able to get away with the first two but without the third, a battle of wits against friends quickly becomes pointless and dull. A case in point is the recently released Wits and Wagers for XBLA which is long on wagers, short on wits.
Wii: Hang onto your Wii Remotes: Boom Blox is explosively fun! Tue, 06 May 2008 00:00:00 -0000 What's better than blowing stuff up? Blowing stuff up in a cute and vibrant world that was given life by Steven Spielberg, one of the greatest creative minds of our time, that's what. So come along with us as we light the fuse on our review of Boom Blox. 3...2...1...BOOM!
Wii: Speed Racer Tue, 06 May 2008 00:00:00 -0000 I'm sure anyone with a taste for combative racing is deep in their quest to unlock everything Mario Kart Wii has to offer, but if you're looking for something faster, with a lot more car-fu, Speed Racer: The Videogame is surprisingly recommendable.
